The seventh Gyalwa Karmapa Chodrak Gyatso founded the Thrangu Monastery in Eastern Tibet about 500
years ago. He appointed Sherab Gyaltsen as the first Thrangu Rinpoche. His Holiness the Karmapa
identified him as the emanation of Shubu Palgyi Senge, one of the twenty-five great Siddha-diciples
of Guru Padmasambhava.
The current Thrangu Rinpoche is the ninth Incarnation of the Thrangu Rinpoche.
He graduated from his studies with the highest academic title of Geshe Rabjam and is now the teacher of
His Holiness the 17. Karmapa.
Thrangu Rinpoche is the spiritual Director of our center in Halscheid and is the teacher of
Lama Kunga Dorje. Rinpoche founded many Buddhist as well as social projects in Asia.
